It’s kind of tough as a mama to admit it, but occasionally your kids can behave a bit like little punks. And bear cubs are no exception. This little cub was caught on trail cam testing out his mother’s patience. When she put him back in his place he took out his frustration on the camera. Twice. The second time succeeding in knocking it over.
The scientists monitoring the footage even went so far as to call the cub “a little twerp”. He’s a little young for such teenage antics, but the footage is both adorable and funny. Particularly if you have your own little punk at home.
The Voyageurs Wolf Project shared the video on social media from one of its trail cameras in the Voyageurs National Park area in Northern Minnesota. The Project is affiliated with the University of Minnesota and is aimed at furthering our understanding of wolf behaviour, specifically how wolves spend their summer.
“This bear cub was being a little twerp…he was even driving his mom nuts! Once she laid down the law, the little punk, who was clearly distraught from his mother’s reprimand, decided it was time to let out his pent-up frustration on our camera,” the Voyageurs Wolf Project said on Twitter.
Commenters on Facebook said they felt sorry for the cub and that the “poor little guy needs some brothers and sisters to play with. No wonder he’s driving mom nuts”. However, it is usual for brown bears to have from 1 to 3 cubs at any time. Baby bears tend to stay with their mother until around three years old, after which they have learnt enough skills to survive on their own.
